Agentforce for Education is the set of prebuilt agents Salesforce ships for Education Cloud, licensed as an add-on. As of October 2026, Salesforce Help lists nine education agents plus fundraising agents, two marked beta. Each needs clean standard data, knowledge articles, a channel, and a consent policy first. ElevateActual configures them on standard Education Cloud data.

What Is Agentforce for Education?

Agentforce for Education is Salesforce's name for the AI agents that run inside Education Cloud (Agentforce Education), the name Salesforce has also used since Dreamforce 2025. An agent is made of subagents; Salesforce renamed "topics" to "subagents" in April 2026 with no change in function. Each subagent holds a few actions that read or write Salesforce records, run flows, or answer from knowledge articles. The agents sit on the same standard objects that the rest of Salesforce for higher education uses: Person Accounts for people, LearningProgram and LearningCourse for the catalog, CourseOffering and CourseOfferingParticipant for sections and enrollment, IndividualApplication for admissions, and the Fundraising objects for giving.

Status. Salesforce documents the agents on two Help pages, the Agentforce for Education Cloud overview and the Education Agents list. Everything on this page comes from those pages, the articles they link to, and Salesforce's product page. Rationale. Agent capabilities change by release, and the honest way to describe them is to say what Salesforce says, with the date attached. Method. We name the agent, say what Help says it does, name the data it reads, and say who it serves. Platform rule: an agent can only answer from records and articles that already exist and that its running user is allowed to see.

Which Agents Does Salesforce Help List?

As of October 2026, the Education Agents page lists the agents below. Student Recruitment and Transfer Credit are listed as beta on Salesforce Help. The fundraising agents are documented under Alumni and Advancement, so they close the table. The data column comes from each agent's own setup and considerations articles.

What Are the Eight Prebuilt Subagents on the Product Page?

Salesforce's Agentforce for Education product page describes eight prebuilt subagents: Student Recruitment, Financial Aid Inquiry, Transfer Credit, Course Search Support, Student Financials, Advising Support, Student Goal Guidance, and Philanthropic Research. Seven map directly to rows above; Philanthropic Research maps to the fundraising subagents. Attendance Management and Course Operations appear on Help but not among the eight. Status. When the names differ, a statement of work uses the Help name, because Help is what the setup checklist follows. Platform rule: scope an agent from its Help article, never from a slide.

Is Agentforce Included With Education Cloud?

No. Every agent article on Salesforce Help carries the same requirement: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, or Developer Edition with Education Cloud and the applicable Agentforce add-on license. Education Cloud provides the objects and apps; the add-on provides the agent runtime, Agent Builder, and the Einstein Trust Layer. Several agents list more. The Financial Aid Agent requires Data 360. The Student Financials Agent lists Revenue Cloud Advanced and Revenue Cloud Billing. The Attendance Management Agent lists SMS, voice, Marketing Cloud Next, and Slack add-ons. Generative AI usage is metered in Einstein Requests and Flex Credits, billed separately from seats.

Method. Before we scope an agent, we ask the institution's Salesforce account executive to confirm in writing which add-ons the contract includes and how usage is metered. Salesforce publishes an Education Cloud pricing page; we do not quote figures. Platform rule: the license is a prerequisite, not a deliverable, so it belongs in the purchasing plan before it belongs in ours.

What Does an Agent Need Underneath It?

An agent is the last layer, not the first. Four layers beneath it decide whether it is useful on day one.

Clean Standard Data

Each agent reads named standard objects. Course Search reads LearningCourse. Student Financials reads AcademicTerm, AcademicOrder, Invoice, and their children. Course Operations walks from a CourseOfferingParticipant to the student's Contact to an advising Case. If programs live in a spreadsheet, sections carry no term, or one learner exists as three Person Accounts, the agent answers from that condition. Status. Most of the agent work we scope is data work. Rationale. Salesforce's grounding articles say the same thing more gently: the more complete the records, the better the agent performs. Platform rule: an agent cannot read a field its running user cannot see, so field-level security on the portal profile is part of the data layer. Our student success and admissions practices build this layer on standard objects.

Knowledge Articles

Policy questions are answered by the Answer Questions with Knowledge action, which reads Salesforce Knowledge. The recruitment agent's admissions FAQ and the advising subagent both depend on it. An institution without a knowledge base spends its first weeks writing one: refund policy, residency rules, deadlines, prerequisites, who to contact. Platform rule: the agent answers from what is published and visible to its channel's audience; a draft or internal-only article does not count.

A Learner Portal or Channel

Student-facing agents deploy as service agents on an Experience Cloud site or a messaging channel. Staff-facing agents deploy as employee agents in Salesforce or Slack. Help notes that an inbound channel such as an Experience Cloud site connects to one agent at a time, so a recruitment agent and an advising agent need two sites or one agent with careful subagent design. Platform rule: pick the channel before the agent, because the channel sets the audience, the authentication, and the running user.

The Financial Aid Agent verifies identity before sharing anything personal: logged-in students skip the step, guests complete a one-time password by email. The Transfer Credit Agent verifies email before saving estimates. Those are platform behaviors; the institution owns the policy. Who may ask about a balance, what the agent must refuse, how conversations are retained, and who reviews transcripts belong to the registrar, the aid office, and counsel. Platform rule: the Einstein Trust Layer masks and audits, but it does not decide policy.

Readiness areaQuestion to answer
DataDo the records the agent reads exist on standard objects, populated, with duplicates merged?
DataDoes the portal or guest profile have field-level access to those records?
PortalWhich Experience Cloud site or Slack workspace hosts the agent, and who is authenticated there?
PortalDo learners already log in with the identity the agent will verify against, with a valid email on the Person Account?
KnowledgeAre the policies the agent will be asked about published as knowledge articles, and who reviews them when policy changes?
GovernanceWhat must the agent refuse, and what does it hand to a person?
GovernanceWho reviews conversation logs and feedback after activation, and how often?
LicensingWhich add-ons does the contract include, and how is usage metered?

What Does ElevateActual Build?

ElevateActual built its first Agentforce agents for a client and configures agents on standard Education Cloud data. Status. We start by confirming the data layer: the standard objects the chosen agent reads, populated and permissioned for the channel's running user. Rationale. This is where the answers come from, and it is the part Salesforce cannot ship in a template. Method. We configure the agent from its Help article, clone and adjust the flows the article names (the recruitment and transfer credit agents ship flows that must be cloned for guest users), connect the channel, write or import the knowledge articles, and run the testing center with the institution's own questions before activation. For a continuing education storefront, the article on Agentforce subagents for continuing education maps each agent to a storefront moment. Platform rule: we add a custom action only when a standard action cannot reach the data, and we write down why.

We do not build agents on EDA, on custom learner objects, or on data not yet migrated into the standard model. The standard agents read standard objects, and an agent pointed at a custom object needs custom actions, custom prompts, and custom maintenance at every release. The glossary defines the objects named on this page.

What We Will Not Claim

We keep three rules. First, no beta, pilot, or early-access claims. If Salesforce Help marks an agent as beta, we say "listed as beta on Salesforce Help" and treat it as unsuitable for a production commitment until the label comes off. Second, no outcome statistics: no deflection rates, no hours saved, no satisfaction scores, neither ours nor Salesforce's. Agents are new on campuses, the samples are small, and a number quoted without its denominator is a sales tactic. Third, no feature that is not on Salesforce Help as of the date on this page. A feature in a keynote and not in Help is a roadmap item, and roadmap items do not go in a statement of work.

Where Should an Institution Start?

Status. Start with the agent whose data you already have and whose audience you already authenticate. For most institutions that is Course Search for students on an existing learner portal, or Student Advising Topics for advisors who already work cases in Salesforce. Rationale. Both read records the institution maintains anyway, both have few actions, and both fail softly. Recruitment and Transfer Credit are listed as beta and reach anonymous guests, the wrong place to learn. Student Financials and Financial Aid carry extra license and integration requirements that take a term to assemble. Method. Pick one agent, fill in the readiness table, write the knowledge articles, run the testing center with real front-desk questions, and activate on one channel. The second agent is easier because the data and governance layers are shared. For a storefront unit, the guide to Salesforce Commerce for higher education explains how the catalog an agent searches is the catalog the storefront sells. Platform rule: one agent, one channel, one term of real use before the next.

Questions We Hear

What is Agentforce for Education?

Agentforce for Education is the set of prebuilt AI agents Salesforce documents for Education Cloud. As of October 2026 Salesforce Help lists Student Recruitment, Transfer Credit, Student Advising Topics, Course Search, Student Goals, Student Financials, Financial Aid, Attendance Management, and Course Operations in Slack, plus Donor Support, Donor Engagement, and Philanthropic Research under Agentforce for Fundraising. Each agent is a bundle of subagents and actions that read standard records, run flows, and answer from knowledge articles.

Is Agentforce included with Education Cloud?

No. Every agent article on Salesforce Help requires Education Cloud plus the applicable Agentforce add-on license. Some agents list more: Data 360 for Financial Aid, Revenue Cloud Advanced and Revenue Cloud Billing for Student Financials, and SMS, voice, Marketing Cloud Next, and Slack add-ons for Attendance Management. Generative AI usage is metered separately in Einstein Requests and Flex Credits. Confirm the add-ons in your contract with your Salesforce account executive before anyone scopes the build.

Which agents are generally available?

Salesforce Help does not publish a general-availability roster as such. The accurate statement is that the Education Agents page lists nine agents as of October 2026, and two of them, Student Recruitment and Transfer Credit, are listed as beta on Salesforce Help. The others are documented as available with Education Cloud and the Agentforce add-on, subject to the extra licenses some articles name. Labels change by release, so read the Help page on the day you decide, and keep anything marked beta out of production plans.

Can an agent help a continuing education storefront?

Yes, within what Help documents. Course Search can answer course questions for learners on an Experience Cloud site, Student Advising Topics and the Student Goals Agent can help match a learner to a certificate, and Course Operations can support instructors in Slack. Student Financials and Financial Aid carry extra license and data requirements. Our article on Agentforce subagents for continuing education maps each agent to a storefront moment and names the data it needs.

What does an agent need before it is useful?

Four things. Clean records on the standard objects the agent reads, with field-level access for the running user. Published knowledge articles for every policy question it will be asked. A channel, meaning an Experience Cloud site, a messaging channel, or Slack, with its audience and authentication decided. A governance decision on what the agent may answer, what it must refuse, and who reviews transcripts. The license is the fifth prerequisite and the easiest one. Most of the work in an agent project is the first two.

Does ElevateActual build custom agents or only the prebuilt ones?

We start from the prebuilt agents because they read standard objects and Salesforce maintains them at every release. We add a custom action only when a standard action cannot reach the data an institution needs, and we write down the reason. We built our first Agentforce agents for a client on standard Education Cloud data, with the testing center run against the institution's own questions before activation. We do not build agents on EDA or on custom learner objects.
